17 Month old boy kills snake

A 17-month-old boy chewed a venomous snake to death while playing in his family's garden in Mostardas in Rio Grande do Sul state, southern Brazil.
According to RT when his mother, Jaine de Souza found the boy with the snake in his mouth, she shouted for her husband Lucier. Both parents took the boy to the Sao Luiz hospital, along with the snake which turned out to be a pit viper, or jararaca.

While the parents thought the snake must have been killed by their dog, the doctor at the hospital thinks it was the boy himself.

“He bit the young jararaca close to its head, which immobilised it and prevented it from biting him,” doctor Gilmar Carter said, “The boy was very shaken up — I think it was a self-defense instinct that kicked in, or he thought it was a toy.”
