Rivers re-run: Suspected snatchers of election materials paraded



 Five suspected election materials snatchers, allegedly arrested during last Saturday’s national and state legislative re-run elections in Rivers State, were paraded last night in Abuja by police authorities.

Speaker, 20 Rivers Lawmakers sacked by Tribunal



The National and Legislative houses of Assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and 20 members of the house.

They are all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). There are 32 members of the House of Assembly and with the sack of 21, only 11 members will be left.

Ogogoro Tragedy - Death toll now 66



The Rivers State government, yesterday, said the death toll from consumed poisonous local gin, otherwise known as ogogoro, has risen to 66 from 38.


The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Somiari Harry, who disclosed this to journalists shortly after a meeting with vendors of ogogoro, said efforts were on to ensure stoppage of consumption till further notice.

Five Confirmed dead after eating Dog Meat







At least five persons have  been confirmed dead at Woji, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, after eating dog meat from a popular inn in the area.

The mysterious death has raised tension in the community as people have begun to question the tragic result that has followed the eating of dog meat alleged to have been cooked by one Friday Dickson, popularly called Etiaba.
