Appeal Court Nullifies Rivers Governorship Election

The Court of Appeal has struck out the appeal of Nyesom Wike seeking a dismissal of the judgment of the Rivers election petition tribunal which sacked him as governor of the state.
The tribunal headed by Justice Suleiman Ambrosa had, in a judgment on October 24 voided Wike’s election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in the state.
‎According to Channels Television, the tribunal in its ruling stated that the characters of voters called by Wike were impugned under cross-examination and that it agreed that the evidence of the witnesses of Wike and INEC was incredible and unreliable.

NDLEA nabs Indian Hemp Dealers in Abia State

A raid by narcotics agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, has led to the discovery of 137kgs of cannabis and the arrest of two suspects in Abia State.

The NDLEA commander in the state, Mr. Dele Akingbade, said the two suspects, 35-year-old Fidelis Ogbonna and 68-year-old Ududem Nwoke, were major hemp distributors in the state.

Heavy shooting reported at Oporoma headquarters of Southern Ijaw local government area has forced residents to stay indoors.
This is in spite of the ten gunboats deployed in the waterways to wade off would be trouble makers in the area.
Security Operatives last night arrested some suspected armed men who attacked Journalists and other persons proceeding on election duty at restive Odioma community in Brass Local Government area.
There was sporadic shooting and the travellers had to scamper for safety at about 8pm.
Our reporter can report that with the prompt arrest of the trouble shooters the situation brought under control .
